How To Make Packing Easier

Posted on

Moving can be extremely stressful and cause anxiety if you are not completely organized. It can also be physically exhausting and take up a lot of time that you might not otherwise have. Here are some simple moving tips that you can use to make your packing and unpacking at your new home a little bit easier on you.

Break Items Down & Group Item Together

Pack your boxes according to what room they will be unpacked and placed in when they arrive at the new house. For instance, put together one box of all bathroom items that contains all toiletries, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and towels. Then label the side of the box with a black marker and indicate which room the box belongs in, so that when it comes off the back of the truck you immediately know where it should go. This will help cut down on the amount of time that you have to spend sorting boxes and unpacking them.

Wrap Fragile Items In Towels To Protect Them

Fragile items can get knocked around when they are on a moving truck being transported from one location to another. Take dish towels and bath towels and wrap them around fragile items to give them a protective barrier that can absorb some of the shock they can endure from bumps. This will also help you save money as you will not have to buy expensive bubble wrap to wrap items into, only to throw it away in the garbage after you are done moving.

Make A Master List To Keep Things Organized

When packing up boxes, make sure that you take the time to keep a master list of the contents of each box. Label each box with a specified number and then have an inventory list where the contents of each numbered box are detailed item by item. If possible, take the black marker and write the contents of the box on the side, so that you can quickly reference exactly what is contained in each box and locate items quickly.

If you have heavy or large items that you cannot lift or do not want to move, then the best thing you can do is hire a professional moving company. Professional movers can come in and pack up your entire house and move it to a new location, alleviating the stress of having to do it yourself.
